Periodontology at IDent in Kassel

Preserving your own teeth is our top priority. Therefore, we attach great importance to regular check-ups and preventive measures. By tooth preservation we refer to all measures that concern the prevention, diagnosis and therapy of damaged teeth. This includes plaque-related diseases, caries-related and non-caries-related damage to the teeth.

Periodontology
- Periodontal treatment for a firm hold

In the case of periodontitis, we are already talking about a "widespread disease" - in Germany, every second person over the age of 60 suffers from this bacterial disease of the periodontium. But periodontitis is also a serious problem in all other age groups and should be treated immediately.

Periodontitis is caused by bacteria that are found in the plaque of the teeth. The first signs of periodontitis can be bleeding gums, inflammation or swelling of the gums. As the disease progresses, there is a risk that the gums, the fibres holding the teeth in place and even the jawbone will recede - the teeth no longer have enough support, become loose and fall out. Biting down is also often unpleasant and painful.

Effective therapy:
Early treatment of periodontitis

If periodontitis is detected early, it can be treated very well. During therapy, the bacteria that cause the disease must be eliminated in order to stop the inflammation. To do this, we clean the tooth surfaces thoroughly using special instruments. The aim is to restore the surfaces of the teeth to a biologically acceptable state so that the gums recover and reattach to the tooth.

In severe cases and deep gingival pockets, we perform a minor surgical procedure and remove the affected tissue under anaesthesia so that hygiene can be restored.

For periodontitis patients, regular professional tooth cleaning and close follow-up care are absolutely essential. PZR helps to prevent the development of periodontitis and to contain already existing periodontal inflammation. Biofilm development can be prevented by cleaning the deep gum pockets and inflammations are prevented. Periodontitis patients have an increased risk of developing diabetes. It is therefore all the more important to take precautions at an early stage and minimise the risk.
